ECOOKIM (“L’Union des sociétés coopératives Kimbê”) brings together 30 cocoa and cashew nut producer cooperatives in the Ivory Coast.

Fairtrade and rainforest alliance certified cocoa

The Union works to ensure the high quality of its cocoa is recognized on the international market, while also promoting the sustainable development of its member cooperatives. ECOOKIM is certified Fairtrade (2010), UTZ (2012, now part of the Rainforest Alliance), Rainforest Alliance (2014) and Organic (2018). Our cocoa comes from the Coopérative Agricole Persévérance de Dibobly-Guezon (or CAPEDIG), an Ecookim member whose producers are all Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance certified.

Members’ plantations between Mount Péko National Park and the Protected Forests of Duékoué and Haut-Sassandra have all been mapped since 2016 to ensure that no cocoa comes from protected natural areas.

100% of plots geolocated

We have been working with Ecookim / CAPEDIG since 2014 and signed a partnership in 2018. Along with the range of actions taking place to support producer communities, the price compensation bonus has made joining CAPEDIG very attractive, with membership more than tripling since 2019.
