Pariani Autumn Harvest Update: A Tale of Two Crops, Two Markets
Autumn is the season of harvest, when the land offers some of its most precious fruits. At Pariani, two of our signature ingredients, Piedmont hazelnuts and Sicilian pistachios, are following very different paths this year, highlighting the unique characteristics of each supply chain and growing region.
Piedmont Hazelnuts: Improved Availability
This year's hazelnut harvest in Piedmont has brought encouraging signs for the market. While production remains below historical averages, availability is stronger than it was in 2025.
Initial forecasts pointed to a more limited harvest, but a second harvest helped recover part of the expected shortfall, resulting in greater volumes than originally anticipated. The season serves as a reminder of both the resilience and unpredictability of agriculture, where weather, timing, and growing conditions can significantly influence outcomes.
For producers and artisans who value the distinctive flavor and quality of Piedmont hazelnuts, this year's harvest offers a welcome improvement in availability while maintaining the exceptional standards the region is known for.
Sicilian Pistachios: A More Challenging Season
The outlook for pistachios in 2026 is quite different.
In Sicily, the harvest has been limited, reducing the overall availability of pistachios from the region. Additionally, there will be no Bronte Pistachio harvest this year, as production follows a biennial cycle and takes place only in odd-numbered years, in accordance with local production practices.
The situation extends beyond Sicily. Globally, pistachio availability is expected to be lower this season due to reduced production in several key growing regions. Together, these factors are contributing to a tighter supply landscape for one of the world's most sought-after nuts.
Looking Ahead
Every harvest season tells a unique story. This year, hazelnuts and pistachios illustrate how different agricultural realities can shape availability from one crop to another.
At Pariani, we continue to work closely with our growers and partners, following each harvest with care and attention. Through strong relationships, deep agricultural expertise, and a commitment to quality, we remain dedicated to bringing the finest Piedmont hazelnuts and Sicilian pistachios from their regions of origin to chefs, artisans, and food professionals around the world.
As autumn unfolds, we celebrate not only the harvest itself but also the people, traditions, and landscapes behind these exceptional ingredients.
